| Mary was also called Maria. She was confirmed in 1848 at the age of 15 at the Peace Lutheran church in Arnheim. The census taker of the 1850 census confused Mary with her older sister Polly (aka Anna Barbara) and switched their names. Another researcher used this erroneous census as the basis of Mary's birth date and birth location and this misinformation has proliferated via the internet. | ||||||||
