Notes for Johann Jacob Schneider
Jacob Schneider was born February 6, 1797 to Micheal Schneider and Maria Elizabetha Ross in Altfroeschen. He was born a year after their first child died as an infant. He was christened Johann Jakob.
Johann Jakob Schneider took up farming. On the 21st of December 1821 he married Elisabetha Katarina Schilpp of Herschberg.
They had two daughters born when they were living in Hoheinoed, Elisabeth born February 24, 1822 and Anna Barbara born October 27, 1826.
According to their son Jacob, when Anna Barbara was an infant in 1826 they emigrated to America locating in Ironton, Ohio where they resided. In 1846 they came to Brown County Ohio. They settled on a farm of some 160 or more acres on Straight Creek in Jackson Township. Jacob also purchased and farmed 182 acres in Washington township, Brown County Ohio
Recorded on April 12 1839 Common Pleas Book of Brown County, Jacob Snyder produced to the court evidence of having declared his intention more than three years ago to become a citizen of the United States and provided by oath of witnesses his residence of five years in the United States and one year and more in this state...
From the Arnheim Lutheran Church parish register: Died on the 8th of August 1859 at 4 in the afternoon after suffering a ten year illness [palsey], Jacob Schneider, son of Michael Schneider of Thalfroschen in Rheinbaiern. From the 1860 Mortality Schedual, Jacob Schneider age 61 Farmer Palsey 11 years.
His will was probated 9 November 1859 in the Probate Court of Brown County Ohio.
He was survived by his wife Elisabetha, four sons Jacob, Daniel, Michael, and Adam, and five daughters Eliazabeth Shafer, Anna Barbara, Mary Shaw, Caroline Sneder, and Margaret.
Jacob is buried on the left hand side of his father Michael Schneider. His head stone is broken. His wife Elisabetha's head stone is at his feet.
